Handbag Hangers
What's the Weirdest Thing You Found in Your Bag
My girlfriends and I randomly came up with a topic of "What's the Weirdest Thing You Found in Your Handbag?" The laughs were endless after many of us started sharing.
Here are some of the things that were found and the reasons why:
-A week old ham and cheese sandwich, after not having the desire to eat a sandwich for lunch she bought lunch instead, but then forgot she had a sandwich.
-A phone number of a really cute guy she met on the train but never called because she forgot she took his number. She later called him after like two months and he was still interested.
-Dinosaur figurines from her son's favorite toy the sad part was her son was now 8 and he liked that toy when he was 5. [She really needs a handbag makeover]
-Condiment packets from fast food restaurants.
-a regular sized flashlight, with the scares of 9/11 and the NYC Blackout you just never know.
-a large shopping bag: just because she never knew what she might need to bring home.

Handbags Wedding Style
One of my good friends is getting married this August. She is so not a bridezilla! Anyway, she is trying to decide if she should carry a purse or not being that she will be holding a bouquet of flowers and it will be hard to keep track of a purse during such a busy day. I kind of agree with her about the keeping track part because there are so many things a bride is doing that a purse would just get in the way. But how does the bride carry her lip gloss to retouch, mints to keep her breath fresh for all the kissing and a compact mirror to make sure she doesn't have food in her teeth.
Most brides carry a dainty drawsting bag she wears around her wrist to stuff all those heavy envelopes in, but my bride friend doesn't want it dangling from her wrist all night. So she decided to go with a purse that had a strap and she would wear it across her chest sort of like a messenger bag. I didn't quite get it because I never saw it done so I wasn't quite sure how it would look. However, there were tons of selections she was able to choose from other than the norm. She picked something like this:
I thought it had the right idea fitting those bare necessities while not being too much in the way. When my wedding day comes, I'll be sure to keep this style in mind.

I Can Do Without a Louis
Almost all of my girlfriends gave themselves a grown woman treat by making a big purchase on a Louis Vutton bag. Louis Vutton is a classic that has been around for ages, I remember playing dress up as a child and wearing my mother's as part of my grown-up ensemble. I think they are nice bags that give a woman a mature sophiscation, but I haven't had the urge to purchase one myself even though I claim to be such a handbag addict. This bag seems to be the mother of all to most women. I only own two designer bags, Marc Jacobs and a Michael Kors. My style of handbags doesn't really have to be necessarily a designer. Its a bag that's functional, stylish and different. A bag you won't see many wearing, which is probably why I don't own a Louis. I appreciate the bag where someone says "That bag is so nice, where did you get it?" With a Louis, you don't really get that exclusive compliment because its a Louis and its everywhere and everyone can get one. As a handbag addict with a serious handbag habit this is the one bag that doesn't get me to that handbag high.
Handbags Galore at Shopbop
One day while at work, I needed a little pick me up, to get me back in the mid-day swing of things. I received an email from a co-worker with a subject line that read
"25% off handbags from Shopbop." I like to call it a sign from Handbag Heaven that clearly suggested I needed some handbag intervention.
I actually loved the site and the variety of handbags: colors, sizes, styles, brands. This site has it all from computer bags to diaper bags to beach bags to designer. Thirty-three pages of pure handbag fun, so you can't go wrong at finding the perfect bag. There is no doubt in my mind that I wouldn't be able to find a bag here. I already bookmarked it in my favs. I just haven't had the time to sit down and actually look through the entire site, which sells more than just handbags, but I did see a few that caught my eye already. This is the link for your own private preview http://www.shopbop.com/handbags/br/v=1/2 534374302024667.htm?extid=facebook
Meanwhile check out my fav picks....
This would be my everyday work tote. Its called Romina by Derek Lam. I love the color, gray is so sexy and it oozes professional power. I really appreciate an oversized bag for my workweeks because they carry everything that I need like a browned bag lunch, a novel, work labtop, a magazine, subscribed pair of specs, sunglasses and an umbrella just in case.
This one is a Foley + Corinna Dyed Mid City Tote. I thought this bag was pretty slick because of the tie-dyed pastel colors perfect for the summer and the dual-face style you can wear it in. This one I would also wear to work but because I get a summer vibe from it I could see myself toting this to a streetfair to help my lug all my purchases back home.
This is from the Jack Rabbit Collection and its called a Stinger Tote. I think this is cute enough for the weekends of browsing the mall, brunching or just being out and fabulous. I love the details, the color and the easy grab handle.
Zambos & Siega Brigitte Oversived Clutch. When I saw the word oversized clutch, my eyes got all big and a grin began to smear because I love and hate clutches. They are easy to carry, sexy enough to pair with the perfect dress, but sometimes there isn't enough room to hold all the necessities a girl needs when she hits the town. And this bag, is just perfect for taking the lead in mastering that oxymoron.

ManBags aka Murse
Apparently this is a fashion trend for the metrosexual's or gay guys who would appreciate carrying their manly essentials around. Historically manbags were worn by pioneers and cowboys. Don't you remember Indiana Jones sporting one?
Although, I hate to see a man with his jean pockets overstuffed with keys, cell phone, ipod and wallet, I still don't know how I feel about my manly guy carrying a bag.
I don't care how much boyish belongings are enclosed in it-its still a purse! I've seen them around more than ever in various styles, colors and sizes. Celebrities like Soccer King David Beckman, Rapper Kayne West and Music Producer Pharrell Williams are known to proudly tote.

Handbags at the Underdog
The hottest handbags could be found everywhere. A hot handbag doesn't have to be a high-end bag like Louis Vutton or Fendi, it be could a unique, edgy back that you found in small boutique in your neighborhood. I appreciate the handbags that everyone is complimenting but can't find it anywhere.
The best places to find a great handbag without the major price tags.....(drum roll please!)
1. Daffy's: http://www.daffys.com.
They have a great handbag selection from European designers that you won't find in major department stores. The best thing about Daffy's is once merchandise is completely sold out, its gone forever, so you don't have to worry about too many carrying the same bag. The prices can range from as little as $30 to $300, so its your call on how much you want to spend.
2. TJMaxx: http://www.tjmaxx.com
Oh how I LOVE TJMaxx, I buy almost everthing in that store-including my handbags. This store is a hit or miss, but when you hit its like the jackpot. They have a lot of designers even the ones you never heard of. The selections are endless from work to evening to casual. I have spent hours just in the handbag section. The prices are always right at TJMaxx, I got a Michael Kors handbag for only $79 with a retail vaule of $300
3. Zara: http://www.zara.com
Zara is a brand that can carry its own because of its trendy and sexy styles. Their handbags are to die for, they have an edge that can be carried like no other. Once a handbag trend is set in the fashion world, Zara brings it to a whole other level and then some. What I love about Zara bags are the funky colors or the creative functions. Prices can range from $85 to $200.
